Mammoth
Mountain Days and Cozy Nights
Mammoth is one of those places I keep coming back to, no matter the season. It’s the perfect mix of outdoor adventure, cozy downtime, and mountain air that never gets old.
A trip to Mammoth is always a good time. It’s one of my favorite quick getaways from San Diego, especially in the winter when I need a cold-weather fix but only for a few days. The snow, the crisp air, and the cozy cabin vibes make it feel like a true winter escape - without fully committing to the cold longer than I can handle.
I’ve been to Mammoth with big groups and on smaller weekend trips with Zak, and both are equally fun in different ways. Group trips are all about shared meals, late nights, and full days on the mountain, while the quieter trips feel slower and more relaxed. No matter the group size, it always ends up being a mix of adventure and downtime.
In the winter, we usually pack our days with snowboarding, après drinks, and cooking dinner in once we’re tired and thawing out. There’s something about coming back from the mountain, changing into sweats, and settling in for the night that never gets old. Whether we’re out and about or staying in, the vibe is always cozy and easy.
We’ve also visited Mammoth in the summer, which has a completely different feel but is just as fun. Camping outdoors, barbecuing, hiking, and spending as much time outside as possible. It’s one of those places that works year-round. Whether you’re chasing snow or sunshine, Mammoth always delivers.
