Sonoma

A Relaxing Escape to California Wine Country

Sonoma was exactly the kind of trip I needed - slow mornings, incredible food, vineyard views, and plenty of time to unwind. If you're looking for a weekend that feels both relaxing and refreshing, here's everything we loved.

Arriving in Sonoma

Zak and I headed to Sonoma for a friend's wedding (it feels like our lives have been filled with wedding celebrations lately!), making it the perfect excuse for a quick weekend getaway. We flew into San Francisco, picked up a rental car, and made the scenic drive to Sonoma. Having a car made getting around wine country incredibly easy throughout the weekend.

We checked into The Lodge at Sonoma, and it ended up being one of our favorite parts of the trip! Since we got in early, we spent the afternoon by the pool before heading out to a couple of wineries. Even though I don't drink, I genuinely love the vibe of a winery - the views, the atmosphere, and an excuse to sit outside for a few hours? I'm in.

Slow Morning & Wedding Day

Saturday started exactly how I like to travel - a workout to move my body followed by a slow morning. We then headed into Sonoma Plaza, the historic town square filled with local shops, restaurants, and tasting rooms, and grabbed brunch. A good latte and delicious food was a perfect start to the day.

That evening, we celebrated our friends at the most beautiful château overlooking the vineyards. Between the views, the weather, and the setting, it was one of those weddings where you couldn't stop saying, "This is gorgeous!!”

The Perfect Wellness Day

Before heading home, we dedicated our final day entirely to slowing down. After another relaxed morning and breakfast, we spent the afternoon at The Spa at The Lodge at Sonoma and I can't recommend it enough. We booked massages, which gave us access to the spa facilities for the entire day, including private soaking pools, hot tubs, a sauna, relaxation lounges, and peaceful outdoor spaces.

One of my favorite parts was being able to order food and drinks directly to the pool, so we never felt rushed to leave. Instead, we spent hours reading, relaxing, and soaking up the quiet atmosphere. It was the kind of afternoon that leaves you feeling genuinely recharged.

It honestly couldn't have been a better way to end the weekend. Instead of squeezing in one last activity, we left Sonoma feeling relaxed, recharged, and already talking about when we'd come back.
