Lake Powell
Houseboats, Cliff Jumping & Lake Days
Lake Powell will always have a special place in my heart - it's where I met my husband, Zak, on a friend's camping trip. Between the houseboat days, red rock canyons, and unforgettable sunsets, it's a place that's given me some of my favorite memories.
I've been lucky enough to visit Lake Powell several times thanks to my best friend's family, who have a houseboat. It's one of those places that feels completely disconnected from the rest of the world in the best way. With little to no cell service, your days naturally revolve around the water, good company, and living in the moment.
One of those trips ended up changing my life in a way I never could have expected. It's where I met my husband, Zak. It started as just another friends trip, but somewhere between the lake days, starry nights, boating through the canyons, and endless conversations, we started to realize there might be something there. Looking back, it still feels a little surreal that a random camping trip led me to my person!
Every trip to Lake Powell has looked a little different. Some years I've stayed on a houseboat, while other trips we've fully camped out on the lake. Days are always spent boating, wakesurfing, jet skiing, cliff jumping, exploring hidden canyons, and soaking up as much time on the water as possible. Evenings are just as memorable - watching the sunset, cooking dinner together, playing games, and ending the night under some of the clearest star-filled skies I've ever seen.
Lake Powell will always be more than just a beautiful place to me. It's where some of my favorite memories were made, where I met my husband, and a place that perfectly reminds me how special it is to unplug and simply enjoy the people you're with. It's an adventure I'll recommend over and over again.

Travel Tips
Best Time to Visit
May–June: Warm weather, comfortable temperatures, and perfect conditions for boating, wakesurfing, and camping before the peak summer heat.
July–August: The hottest and busiest time of year. Expect warm lake temperatures, long days, and ideal conditions for water sports.
Getting There: Most people fly into Page, AZ or Las Vegas, NV and drive to Lake Powell. If you're staying on a houseboat, be sure to plan ahead for groceries, ice, and supplies before launching.
Don't Count on Cell Service: One of the best parts of Lake Powell is unplugging. Download maps, playlists, and anything else you'll need before arriving.
Bring Plenty of Sun Protection: The desert sun is no joke. Sunscreen, hats, sunglasses, and lots of water are essentials, especially if you're spending all day on the lake.
Accommodations
I've experienced Lake Powell both ways - staying on a houseboat and camping! Each offers a completely different experience, but both are incredibly fun.
Houseboat: The classic Lake Powell experience. Wake up on the water, anchor in a secluded cove, swim right off the boat, and spend your days boating, wakesurfing, and relaxing in the sun.
Camping: A great option if you're looking for a more budget-friendly trip or want to be even closer to nature. There's nothing quite like falling asleep under the stars after a full day on the lake.
