Saint Barthélemy

A Girl’s Trip of a Lifetime

We came to Saint Barthélemy for a bachelorette trip, and it honestly might go down in history as one of the most fun trips ever. Between the beach clubs, turquoise water, incredible dinners, and nights that somehow always turned into a party, St. Barths completely lived up to the hype.

St. Barths: Worth Every Flight

I went to St. Barths for one of my best friend's bachelorette parties, and I can confidently say it was one of the most fun weekends of my life. Getting there from San Diego was no joke - three flights, two layovers, and enough travel time to question every life decision that led me there. But the second we landed, it was worth it.

The final flight into St. Barths is an experience in itself. You fly from St. Martin on a tiny propeller plane because the runway is so short that only smaller aircraft can land there. The descent is famous for being one of the most dramatic airport landings in the world, which is a fun fact to learn while actively landing! Once everyone arrived, we grabbed dinner, checked into our villa, and got some much-needed sleep before the festivities began.

Beach Days & Beach Clubs

The next morning we kicked things off with breakfast at Eden Rock before heading to St. Jean Beach and Gyp Sea. The water was bright blue, the drinks were flowing (mocktails for me), and the vibe was exactly what you'd imagine when you picture St. Barths. After a full day by the ocean, we headed back to get ready for dinner at Sella, followed by a night out that lasted well into the early hours of the morning.

The next day we tackled the Colombier hike, which rewards you with one of the most beautiful beaches on the island. After earning our lunch, we headed to Shellona and spent the afternoon swimming, laying in the sun, and pretending we didn't stay out late the night before. We wandered around Gustavia afterward, did a little shopping, had dinner at the villa, and somehow still found the energy for a night out at Le Ti.

The Weekend That Never Stopped

By day three, a spa day was very much needed. We spent the afternoon at Hotel Christopher getting massages, relaxing by the pool, sipping recovery juice shots, and enjoying a slow lunch overlooking the water. It was exactly the reset we needed before another evening out, this time at La Petite Plage, where dinner eventually turned into dancing on tabletops and singing along to every song.

Our final full day was spent soaking up every last minute of island life. We lingered around the villa in the morning before heading to La Guérite for lunch and a beach club day. More swimming, more dancing, more singing at the top of our lungs, and plenty of celebratory drinks. We stopped at a few bars afterward before making our way back to the villa for one last night together.

Why I'll Never Forget St. Barths

On paper, it was a weekend filled with beach clubs, beach days, and very little sleep. We stayed out until 3 a.m. most nights and somehow still managed to make it to breakfast the next morning. But what made the trip so special wasn't the itinerary - it was experiencing it all with some of my favorite people.

St. Barths somehow manages to feel both luxurious and laid-back at the same time. The water is impossibly blue, the beaches are stunning, and every meal seems to turn into a celebration. It was chaotic, beautiful, exhausting, and absolutely perfect. One of those weekends I'll be talking about for years.

Here’s What to Know Before You Go

Travel Tips

  • Best Time to Visit: Literally anytime! Between December and April is when the weather is warm, sunny, and relatively dry. This is also peak season, so expect higher prices and reservations to book up quickly!

  • Currency: St. Barths uses the Euro (€). I rarely needed cash during my trip, but it's always helpful to have a small amount on hand for taxis or smaller purchases.

  • Getting Around: Rent a car. Trust me. The island is small, but the roads are steep, winding, and taxis add up quickly.

  • Make Reservations Early: Places like Sella, Shellona, La Petite Plage, La Guérite, and the beach clubs can fill quickly, especially during peak season!

Accommodations

For groups, I highly recommend renting a villa or Airbnb! We stayed in a villa and it ended up being one of the best parts of the trip. Having a pool, outdoor space, multiple bedrooms, and a common area to hang out made it feel like our own little oasis between beach clubs and dinners.

If you're looking for a luxury hotel experience, some of the most popular options include Eden Rock – St Barths, Cheval Blanc St-Barth Isle de France, and Le Barthélemy Hotel & Spa.
